Lactation Support Services

Adventist Home Health has an established lactation support program for mothers who need further guidance and consultation to ensure a successful breastfeeding experience.

Program Goals

• Assist mothers who are experiencing difficulty breastfeeding
• Increase the patient's and family's knowledge of breastfeeding protocol
• Increase a mother's feeling of competence regarding proper breastfeeding techniques

Commonly Treated Conditions

• Poor latch-on technique
• Sore nipples
• Nipple confusion
• Engorgement
• Poor infant weight gain

Lactation Services

• In-home consultation by certified lactation specialists
• Instruction related to pumping, storing and freezing breast milk
• Assistance with multiple gestation (birth) breastfeeding
