Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Program

Our Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Program is run by a team of rehabilitation experts who will guide you along a practical and personal treatment program focused on increasing self-reliance and gaining independence. The team is led by a physiatrist, a medical doctor who specializes in physical rehabilitation. We provide specialized rehabilitation nursing 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Therapy services include physical therapy, occupational therapy, speechlanguage pathology, and recreational therapy. The specific therapies and duration are determined on an individual basis after the initial evaluation. Most patients receive 3 hours on average Monday through Friday, while Saturday and Sunday vary based on individual treatment plans. Our purpose is to:

  • Determine your rehabilitation needs
  • Utilize a team approach to help you meet your goals
  • Teach you or your caregiver to become more self reliant and independent
  • Help you adjust to life changes
  • Assist you in the transition from the hospital to home or other settings

In order to help you achieve your long-term rehabilitation goals, outpatient services are provided at our Rockville, Derwood and Silver Spring locations. If these locations are not convenient or not where you prefer to go for outpatient services, we will equally coordinate your next steps with other providers.
