Spinal Cord Injury Program
Traumatic Spinal Cord Injuries result from a fall or some kind of accident. It causes damage to the spinal cord and can result in weakness, loss of feeling below where the spinal cord was injured, and/or paralysis.
Non-Traumatic Spinal Cord Injuries result from a stroke and disruption to the spinal cord, tumor on spinal cord, or infection and can result in weakness, loss of feeling below where the spinal cord was injured, and/or paralysis.

Spinal Cord Injury Team Highlights
- Dr. Terrence Sheehan is board certified in Spinal Cord Injury and a member of the Spinal Cord Consortium.
- Erica Druin, PT co-authored Spinal Cord Injuries: Management and Rehabilitation, a leading clinical textbook.
- Kelly Volk, PT, NCS is specially trained in neurological conditions and is the team leader for the Spinal Cord Injury/Dysfunction Team.
- Elna Ward, PT, CLT, coordinates the seating and mobility assessment clinic.
- Pressure Mapping System is available at all sites to provide objective guidelines for seating needs.
- Body Weight System for Early Weight Bearing Activities.
- Karen Whitesell, PT, MGA, ATP is certified as an Assisted Technology Practitioner (ATP) and has over 20 years experience in spinal cord injury and seating and mobility.

Admissions
We serve all levels and causes of Spinal Cord Injury except ventilator dependent patients. We care for patients 18 years of age or older, and under specific circumstances, emancipated minors.
