Special Needs Unit

Our special needs unit will serve males, with an IQ range of 55–70, who have a primary mental health diagnosis and the following:
- Recommended for a residential treatment program by their local core service agency
- Who have not succeeded in less restrictive treatment settings, such as: therapeutic foster care and/or therapeutic group.
- Mental health diagnosis from a licensed mental health provider, excluding Axis I diagnosis of a Pervasive Development Disorder and Conduct Disorder
- Individuals without a history of sexually acting-out, extremely aggressive behavior, mental retardation, and/or extreme fire-setting behaviors
Our Treatment Model includes:
- Mandt System - building therapeutic relationships through increased communication to resolve conflicts in a safe environment
- Behavioral Intervention Support Team (BIST) - social role modeling and regular reinforcement of positive behaviors
Our Services will include:

- Individual, group, and family therapy
- Medication evaluation and adjustment, as necessary
- An evidence-based biofeedback program
- Optional equine therapy
- Art and recreational therapy
- Social and life skills training
