New Members Appointed to Shady Grove Adventist Hospital’s Governance Board including Montgomery College President

Rockville , MD – Shady Grove Adventist Hospital is pleased to announce the appointment of four new members to its Governance Board, which consists of hospital officials, physicians and community members.  Board members work to support the mission, values and the well being of Shady Grove Adventist Hospital as well as to elevate the stature and success of its programs, service and capabilities.   The new members are:

• Brian Johnson, Community Member - Mr. Johnson is president of Montgomery College.
• Dr. Robert Eisdorfer, Community Member - Dr. Eisdorfer is a gastroenterologist and the immediate past president of Shady Grove’s Medical and Affiliate staff.  Dr. Eisdorfer previously served on the Governance Board as president of Shady Grove’s Medical and Affiliate staff.
• Jeanne Pettit, Ex-Officio Member - Ms. Pettit is the president of the Shady Grove Adventist Hospital Foundation Board.  She is also the owner and secretary of Pettit Homes, LLC and daughter of former Shady Grove Governance Board member, John Pettit.
• Dr. Priscilla Callahan-Lyon, Ex-Officio Member - Dr. Callahan-Lyon is an internal medicine physician and the vice president of Shady Grove’s Medical and Affiliate staff.
• Dr. Mark Peterson, Community Member * - Dr. Peterson is an orthopedic physician at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital.

The new board members will begin their two or three year terms at the Board’s January 8, 2008 meeting.

Shady Grove Adventist Hospital , is a not-for-profit, acute care facility with 275 licensed beds that is located in Rockville, Maryland.  Shady Grove is committed to demonstrating God’s care by improving the health of people and communities through a ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing.  The hospital offers a broad range of health services and is recognized for excellence in emergency care; high-risk obstetrical and neonatal care; cardiac and vascular interventional care; pediatric services including the first Pediatric Emergency Department in Montgomery County and the only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in the county; as well as a broad range of surgical specialties.  The Shady Grove Adventist Emergency Center in Germantown opened in 2006 and is providing increased access to emergency medical care for upcounty residents.  Shady Grove Adventist Hospital is part of Rockville, Maryland-based Adventist HealthCare, an integrated health care delivery system that is one of the largest employers in the state of Maryland.
