Bequests
Thank you for considering Shady Grove Adventist Hospital as a (charitable) beneficiary in your estate planning. Please notify us (240) 826-6534 about your decision to remember the Hospital in your will, your retirement account, your insurance policy or trust. We will be very pleased to enlist you as a member of our Heritage Society. The Heritage Society recognizes and honors those individuals who include Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in their estate plans through bequests, gift annuities, life insurance, and/or trusts.
Bequests
There are many types of bequests that you can make to the Hospital. Some types are:
- Residuary Bequest
- Percentage Bequest
- Specific Bequest
Sample Bequest Wording
Sample wording for a “residuary bequest” (that is a gift made after all other heirs are remembered and all expenses and debts paid) could include: “All the rest, residue and remainder of my estate I give, devise, and bequeath to Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, located in Rockville, Maryland.”
Sample wording for a “percentage request” could include: “I give, devise, and bequeath to Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, located in Rockville, Maryland, an amount equal to ____________ percent (____%) of the net value of my estate as finally determined for Federal estate tax purposes.
Sample wording for a “specific bequest” could include: “I give, devise and bequeath to Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, located in Rockville, Maryland, the sum of _______________ dollars ($_________________).”
Property That Passes Outside the Will
Examples of Property that passes outside one’s will are:
- Property held in trust
- Life insurance proceeds
- Property held in an IRA or qualified retirement plan
