A Letter from Hospital

In 2005, Washington Adventist Hospital developed a Vision for Expanded Access designed to meet the community's needs by enhancing access to health care for all and providing improved facilities and services. The Vision includes specific initiatives and programs, such as the creation of a Center on Health Disparities, along with plans to build a 21st century hospital campus near the White Oak area.

While we are very excited about the future of our new hospital, we are committed to working closely with you and our nearby communities to develop plans for the reuse of our campus in Takoma Park.

To that extent, a team has been conducting one-on-one interviews with local leaders and residents throughout the summer to collect input and suggestions to help us develop a future plan for our Takoma Park campus, including retaining health-care services. The team will be completing the interviews and presenting redevelopment options to hospital leaders and the community later this year.

We are also meeting with many community groups and asking for feedback on the new Washington Adventist Hospital campus as we make preparations to file a site plan.

With our Vision for Expanded Access, we’re re-defining what a hospital can be – bringing the best of health care into the community – and the community into health. Our vision builds on our 100-year legacy of service and enables Washington Adventist Hospital to provide superior care to our communities for the next 100 years.

I want to emphasize that while we work toward the future we remain committed to current hospital operations and maintaining an outstanding level of quality care and service.

Washington Adventist Hospital’s exciting future belongs to all of us. Whether it’s individually or collectively, thank you for your great interest and working with us to expand health-care access for the communities we serve. You are important to our hospital and its future. I will continue to keep you involved and informed as we work together to develop plans for the relocation of our hospital, while retaining health-care services at our Takoma Park campus.
