A New Vision

Looking Forward, Looking Back - With a New Vision

The new year is always a time to look back and look forward.

For all of us at Washington Adventist Hospital, this new year marks an even greater milestone. We’re counting down to a century of service in the community. This has been the ideal time to take measure of our programs, services and facilities, and most importantly, take a look at how well we are meeting our community’s needs.

To that end, a little over a year ago, Washington Adventist Hospital announced the Vision for Expanded Access, designed to improve access to care for our community and to provide improved facilities and services.

In developing our Vision, we quickly understood that the Vision for Expanded Access was about connecting with our community in ways that are not limited to the four walls of our hospital. It’s about being a partner.

We believe one of the most effective ways to serve our community is by developing relationships that help create a healthier community. That’s why I’m proud to announce a new partnership we have formed with Mary’s Center to improve access to primary care services for our community.

Mary’s Center was established in 1988 in Washington, DC. Today, Mary’s Center has several locations and serves a multicultural population, with a focus on families who work in jobs where health insurance is not available.

As we continue our progress in 2007, you can look for more ways that Washington Adventist Hospital will partner with the community. We also invite you to learn more about our Vision for Expanded Access at www.ExpandedHealthAccess.com.

It’s our mission to serve. It’s also our privilege. Now, as we count down to our celebration of one hundred years of service, we must also look ahead — to serving you for the next hundred years. I know I speak for many of us when I say how enthusiastically I look forward to the future and the opportunity to continue serving our community.

One hundred years is just the beginning.

Sincerely,

Jere D. Stocks
President, Washington Adventist Hospital
