Reshaping Health Care for the Community

As we get ready to welcome in a new year, I am excited to share with you ways Washington Adventist Hospital is growing and changing to provide you with even better care in 2008.

We recently updated our Labor/Delivery and Maternity areas and have begun working to enhance our Emergency Department.

Modernizing these areas of the hospital is just one example of our dedication to providing you with the best health care available. And, our commitment to delivering quality care to the community goes beyond the walls of our hospital.

Through our Vision for Expanded Access (www.expandedhealthaccess.com), we are partnering with organizations like Casa de Maryland, the Mary’s Center and MobileMed to expand health-care access for
all, ensuring you, your family, and neighbors have the health-care services you need. In partnership with the Mary’s Center, a primary care clinic in Long Branch will open in January to provide residents with family health-care services.

Another way we’re working to expand health-care access is by relocating the hospital near White Oak, while retaining health-care services at our Takoma Park campus. An important part of this effort is identifying and developing health-care and community services that will be available at our Takoma Park campus once the hospital relocates.

A hospital team has been collecting ideas during one-on-one interviews with local leaders and residents and will be presenting those options to the community in 2008. Your input has been and continues to be important to us
in this process.

2008 will be a year of immense growth as we continue to improve and update our hospital, plan for a new hospital and continue to build community partnerships to strengthen the region’s health-care infrastructure, and increase access to care for all of the communities we serve.

I look forward to keeping you updated on our future plans as they progress throughout the year.

Wishing you and your family a healthy and safe New Year!

Sincerely,

Jere D. Stocks
President, Washington Adventist Hospital
