400 friends of Washington Adventist Hospital gathered at Indian Spring Country Club for the 16th Annual Black Tie Gala on April 3, 2004 to raise money for Maternal Child Services.
In addition to a reception, a sumptuous dinner and a dessert buffet (which included a four-foot chocolate fountain) the event featured a Silent Auction. Guests participating in the Silent Auction helped raise an additional $10,000 for hospital renovations the night of the event.
$180,000 (net) was raised for mothers and babies. The funds will go toward renovations and equipment additions to the Maternal Child Services departments in the hospital.
Renovations to Labor and Delivery will include 15 private mother rooms, 12 antepartum beds, redecorated corridors and a larger nurse's station. Renovations will also reflect an expansion of Washington Adventist Hospital’s Women's Services program by including non-maternity patient beds for women-only with a separate 17-bed hematology / oncology section.
Last year, the gala raised $155,000 (net) for a state-of-the-art Linear Accelerator used by Radiation Oncologists to treat a variety of cancers. The new linear accelerator will available for patients in June 2004.
The Washington Adventist Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees extend their appreciation to the many generous sponsors and attendees who made the 16th Annual Black Tie Gala a huge success for improved patients services at the hospital. Next year’s Gala is being planned for March 26.
