Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center is the first hospital in Maryland and one of fewer than 200 in the U.S. to achieve the Baby-Friendly designation through the World Health Organization and UNICEF. This means that we have taken extra steps to train our staff and provide education and support to breast feeding moms. Shady Grove Medical Center was also the first in the Montgomery County to open a level IIIB neonatal intensive care unit, which provides specialized, around-the-clock care to critically ill newborns.

The cancer programs at Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center and Adventist HealthCare Washington Adventist Hospital are accredited with commendation by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (CoC). Only 25% of U.S. hospitals hold this accreditation, demonstrating the quality care provided to cancer patients by Adventist HealthCare’s cancer team.
Adventist HealthCare Aquilino Cancer Center
The Aquilino Cancer Center in Rockville, opened its doors in November 2013 as the region’s first free-standing cancer center. The comprehensive center offers a full range of outpatient services to support cancer patients and their families, including medical oncology, radiation oncology, cancer rehabilitation, clinical trials, imaging services and more.
Adventist HealthCare White Oak Breast Center
In December 2014, the Adventist HealthCare White Oak Breast Center opened offering a comfortable and comprehensive approach to breast care for women in the Silver Spring area. The center offers state-of-the-art imaging services, one-on-one consultations with a dedicated breast surgeon or breast certified radiologist, as well as support following a breast cancer diagnosis.
Adventist HealthCare Physical Health & Rehabilitation is the first and only acute rehabilitation facility in Montgomery County. Additionally, the hospital was the first in a five-state area to obtain accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) International in all four specialty areas-brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation and stroke.
For the third year in a row, the Adventist HealthCare Adventist Home Care Services’ Home Health Division received the 2014 Home Care Elite Award, which is presented by The National Research Corporation. The award recognizes the top-performing home health agencies in the United States.
