Shady Grove Adventist Hospital Offers Free Breast Cancer Support Group

Rockville, MD - A free breast cancer support group meets on the third Tuesday of each month from 7 to 9 p.m. at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital. The group offers information and support to individuals who are coping with breast cancer.

According to the American Cancer Society, more than 180,000 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in 2003 and more than 40,000 patients will die from the disease. Breast cancer is not exclusive to women; for every 100 women with breast cancer, one male will develop the disease.

"Our breast cancer support group provides vital education and camaraderie to those who are dealing with the disease," says Judy Lichty, director of Prevention and Wellness for Shady Grove Adventist Hospital.

The group's next meeting will be Tuesday, Nov. 19 in the Emergency Department Conference Center Room. For more information on the breast cancer support group, call (301) 279-6604.
