Shady Grove Adventist Hospital Laboratory Accredited by National Organization

Rockville, MD - Shady Grove Adventist Hospital's laboratory services has earned two more years of accreditation from the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), the premier accrediting body for this clinical service.

The hospital received the accreditation following an on-site inspection conducted last year.

"Shady Grove Adventist Hospital's Lab Services is one of a select group of laboratories that has been evaluated and found to be in compliance with the CAP accreditation standards - rigorous laboratory standards designed to help ensure quality patient care," said Ronald B. Lepoff, M.D., Chair of the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation, in a letter to the hospital.

The hospital's laboratory provides testing of blood and other samples ordered by doctors for both inpatients and outpatients treated by the hospital, and thus serves as an important role in diagnosing and treating patients.

"Our approach to patient care services is to always look for opportunities to improve our standard of care," said Deborah A. Yancer, President of Shady Grove Adventist Hospital. "This review of our laboratory services is very helpful and we're pleased with the result. At the same time we will continue to look for opportunities to continually improve the care we provide for the community."

Shady Grove Adventist Hospital offers an array of health care services for the community including cardiology, cancer care, high risk maternity services, pediatrics, emergency medical care, neonatal intensive care and many other services. The hospital employs some 1,700 health care professionals and is part of the Adventist HealthCare network of health care providers.
