Free Seminar Offers Information On Peripheral Vascular Disease

Rockville, MD - Shady Grove Adventist Hospital will hold a free seminar on peripheral vascular disease on Thursday, April 29 at 7:15 p.m. in the hospital's Weinschel Education Center. The seminar will be given by Dr. Frederick Beavers.

Peripheral vascular disease is a condition in which the arteries of the legs or arms become narrowed or clogged, interfering with blood flow and often causing leg pain or numbness. The most common symptom is painful cramping of the leg of hip, especially when exercising. The disease affects 1 in 20 people over age 50.

"Leg pain should not automatically be dismissed as just a normal sign of aging," said Judy Lichty, Director of Prevention and Wellness for Shady Grove Adventist Hospital. "This free seminar will provide information on how to find, treat and prevent peripheral vascular disease."

At Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, peripheral vascular disease is diagnosed and treated by a multidisciplinary team of physicians with the support of registered staff and state-of-the-art equipment. Shady Grove Adventist Hospital offers a full spectrum of services in vascular disease, from prevention and diagnosis to intervention and surgery.
