Shady Grove Adventist Hospital Announces New Chief Financial Officer
Rockville, Md. - Shady Grove Adventist Hospital is pleased to announce that Ron Benfield has joined the hospital's executive team as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). In this position, Benfield will oversee the hospital's financial, accounting and budgetary functions.
Benfield, who joined Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in January, comes from the Adventist Health System in Florida, where he served since 1999 as the vice president and chief financial officer for the Florida Hospital Waterman, a 204-bed acute care hospital in Tavares, Fla.
"Ron Benfield brings to Shady Grove many talents. He helped to successfully implement the Cerner Millenia clinical information system-an experience that will be invaluable to us at Shady Grove as we implement a similar system here next year," said Deborah A. Yancer, president of Shady Grove Adventist Hospital. "In addition, he oversaw the development and construction of a new $129 million replacement hospital, which was completed three months ahead of schedule and $7 million under budget. His ability to balance growth and stewardship will be an asset to us at Shady Grove as we strive to meet the needs of a growing community."
Benfield has also worked as the regional CFO for the Southeast Region of Adventist Health System. In addition, he has held positions at Community Hospital of Springfield in Springfield, Ohio; Kettering Medical Center, in Kettering, Ohio; Loma Linda Community Hospital in California; and Adventist Health System West in California. He holds an M.B.A. from California State University San Bernardino, and a B.A. from Pacific Union College.
