Peter M. Levine, M.D., Provides Clinical Leadership for Behavioral Health Services of Adventist HealthCare

Rockville, MD – Peter M. Levine, M.D., joined Adventist HealthCare earlier this year with dual roles as executive medical director of Behavioral Health Services and medical director of Washington Adventist Hospital’s Behavioral Health Services. Since joining the organization, Dr. Levine has spearheaded a number of initiatives aimed at increasing the quality of clinical care and service delivered to mentally ill patients.

Dr. Levine also recently completed a master of medical management degree from Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz School of Public Policy and Management in Pennsylvania. The medical management program is designed to equip physicians with the knowledge and skills required to effectively lead and manage individual practices and larger medical organizations in today’s competitive health care environment.

The Behavioral Health Services of Adventist HealthCare offer a broad range of programs and treatment options for individuals throughout their lifespan. Services include acute mental health care, outpatient/inpatient chemical dependency programs, residential treatment, special education and community-based residential programs.

Dr. Levine has more than 30 years of leadership experience in behavioral health. Prior to joining Adventist HealthCare, Dr. Levine served as the executive medical director for Behavioral Health Services at Methodist Medical Center in Illinois. He also served as Interim Chair and Clinical Professor for the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at the University Of Illinois College Of Medicine at Peoria, and was a consultant for mental health initiatives at Caterpillar, Inc.

Dr. Levine received his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans and completed his psychiatric residency at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center. He completed a fellowship in consultation liaison psychiatry at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire.

Dr. Levine is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
