Adventist HealthCare Partners With Clarksburg Town Center for Wellness Programs

Outreach Brings Health Resources to Clarksburg and Upper Montgomery County

Clarksburg, Md. - Newland Communities' Clarksburg Town Center is partnering with Adventist HealthCare in Rockville, Md., to provide wellness programs to the Clarksburg community. The partnership includes onsite tests and screenings for asthma and pulmonary functions, as well as classes.

The programs, which run from now through November, will be held at the Clarksburg Town Center Residents Club and the Clarksburg Town Center Farmers' Market, which begins on June 7. Teen CPR and babysitting certification classes are scheduled for May 9 and May 16. The first program, Home Alone, was held May 2 and helped prepare children and teenagers for emergency situations.

"Clarksburg Town Center is thrilled about our new partnership with Adventist HealthCare that will bring needed health and wellness resources to upper Montgomery County," said Peggy Molloy, marketing director of Clarksburg Town Center. "These programs offer the Clarksburg community opportunities to receive valuable health care services and classes."

Additional outreach programs scheduled for Clarksburg Town Center's Residents Club include childbirth classes and flu shots. Pulmonary function tests, blood pressure screenings, asthma screenings and carbon monoxide and tobacco information sessions will be held at the Clarksburg Town Center Farmers' Market.

"For more than 30 years Adventist HealthCare has expanded access to health care in Rockville, Gaithersburg, Germantown and upper Montgomery County," said Judy Lichty, director of Health and Wellness. "We are proud to bring these new services to Clarksburg and look forward to serving the region more fully in the future with our Clarksburg Community Hospital."

Last year, Adventist HealthCare announced plans for a medical campus and 100-bed hospital to be built on a 60-acre site, located at Route 121 and Interstate 270 in Clarksburg. The long-planned project also calls for medical office buildings for physicians and outpatient medical services, a nursing home and a day-care center.

The Clarksburg campus will join the Shady Grove Adventist Hospital and medical campus, which opened in 1979, and the Germantown Emergency Center and medical campus, which opened in 2006.
