Gaurov Dayal, MD Appointed as first Vice President/Chief Medical Officer for Adventist HealthCare

Rockville, MD - Adventist HealthCare today announced that Dr. Gaurov Dayal has been appointed to the newly created role of Vice President/Chief Medical Officer for the Rockville-based health-care provider.

"Bill" Robertson, president and CEO of Adventist HealthCare. "We are pleased to appoint Dr. Dayal to this new position and recognize that he will be instrumental in leading our initiatives and collaborations with physicians as the nation's health-care system experiences a number of changes in the coming years."

In his new role, Dr. Dayal will oversee clinical integration and strategies for Adventist HealthCare entities that are located in Maryland and New Jersey. He will lead the Adventist Physician Services (APS) division and will work closely with the system's health plans and health partners. Finally, Dr. Dayal will provide support and leadership for Adventist HealthCare's clinical informatics, quality and patient safety initiatives.

Dr. Dayal joined Shady Grove Adventist's medical staff in 2003. He successfully led the hospital's pediatric hospitalist and pediatric intensivist program and helped to expand its pediatric specialists and services. In 2006, he was named Vice President of Clinical Program Development at Shady Grove and was promoted to Chief Medical Officer in 2007.

Dr. Dayal holds an undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University and an M.D. from Northwestern University. He completed his postgraduate training at Washington University, Saint Louis. His background also includes work as a management consultant with McKinsey and Company, a global strategy consulting firm.
