Shady Grove Adventist Hospital Opens New Cardiac, Vascular and Interventional Radiology Suite

State-of-the-Art Suite Offers Latest Technology, More Space for Patients and Families

Rockville, MD – Shady Grove Adventist Hospital has opened a new Cardiac, Vascular and Interventional Radiology (CVIR) Suite. The first patients underwent procedures last week in the Edna and Jerome Goldberg CVIR Suite, which includes two catheterization labs, separate pre- and post-procedure areas for patients and a private waiting room for families.

“Our new CVIR suite offers the latest technology for cardiac, vascular and interventional radiology procedures, including fully integrated imaging, mapping and crisp visualization of the smallest vessels,” says Debbie Truxillo, Director of Cardiopulmonary Services at Shady Grove Adventist.

This year, Shady Grove Adventist Hospital estimates it will perform more than 3,800
cardiac, vascular and interventional radiology procedures, including diagnostic and interventional cardiac and vascular procedures, a full spectrum of electrophysiology studies, as well as very selective procedures such as uterine artery embolization and kyphoplasty.

Shady Grove Adventist Hospital’s high-quality standards allowed it to obtain a waiver from the Maryland Health Care Commission to continue delivering emergency PCI treatments to heart attack patients. The hospital also has been awarded a waiver to participate in an elective PCI study. The hospital’s Cardiac and Vascular Services have earned a Gold Performance Achievement Award from the American College of Cardiology Foundation, designation as a Primary Stroke Center from MIEMSS, and a Chest Pain Center accreditation from the Society of Chest Pain Centers.
