Adventist Rehabilitation Hospital of Maryland Gala to Celebrate Anniversary and Raise Funds for Neuro-Rehabilitation Center

Event Will Mark 10 Years as Montgomery’s Only Acute Rehabilitation Hospital

Rockville, MDAdventist Rehabilitation Hospital of Maryland, the first and only acute rehabilitation hospital in Montgomery County, will officially mark 10 years of serving the community with an Anniversary Gala in downtown Rockville on Thursday, Sept. 22.

“Through this event, Adventist Rehabilitation Hospital of Maryland will renew our commitment to serve the rehabilitation needs of the community,” said Doris Reinhart, Vice President and Administrator of Adventist Rehabilitation Hospital of Maryland. “I want to thank all employees, especially ten-year employees, for their dedication to providing high-quality patient care.”

The Gala, held during National Rehabilitation Week, will feature a jazz band, silent auction and “Back to Life” awards, honoring three inspirational patient stories. In addition, the hospital will highlight its 10 years of history and a vision for its future. It will be held at VisArts in Rockville.

Proceeds from the gala will provide new equipment for neuro-rehabilitation, which will enhance the innovative care provided to help people get back to life from strokes, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, trauma and neurological dysfunctions. The proceeds are part of a 2011 campaign for the hospital to raise $250,000 to create a neuro-rehabilitation center.

“The center will specialize in helping patients who experience complex difficulties with gait, balance and stability,” noted Dr. Terrence Sheehan, chief medical officer of Adventist Rehabilitation Hospital of Maryland. “It will offer advanced technology to compliment our highly trained experts to maximize our patients’ functional outcomes.”

Adventist Rehabilitation Hospital of Maryland opened its doors in January 2001 and holds accreditation from the Joint Commission as well as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). It is the first and only hospital in a five-state region to hold CARF accreditation in all four specialty areas – brain injury, stroke, amputation and spinal cord injury.
