Adventist HealthCare Welcomes a Leader in Emergency Care to its Board of Trustees

Takoma Park, MD - Adventist HealthCare has appointed Drew White, M.D., Medical Staff President and Medical Director of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Washington Adventist Hospital, as a new member of its Board of Trustees.

During more than eight years at Washington Adventist Hospital, Dr. White has played a tremendous role in enhancing the emergency department in the face of increasing patient visits. He helped establish refined processes that allow for patients to receive care faster, resulting in numerous achievements including top rankings in patient satisfaction and the elimination of yellow diversion of ambulance-transported patients for a full year.

“Dr. White’s firsthand understanding of patients’ needs and how to adapt our services in a changing environment to better fit those needs, provides an important perspective that we value and welcome in a new member of our board,” said William G. “Bill” Robertson, President and CEO of Adventist HealthCare.

Dr. White has also served as a member Washington Adventist Hospital’s governing board for three years. He was named Emergency Physician of the Year in 2010 by the American College of Emergency Physicians, Maryland Chapter. Now serving as President of the hospital’s medical staff, White will be working to build on the traditions and efforts of his predecessors to ensure the hospital continues to deliver safe, effective, efficient, and high-quality care.

“Previous board appointments have been some of the most rewarding and invigorating experiences in my career,” said Dr. White. “I hope to contribute my knowledge and experience in healthcare, as well as my business training, to make a positive impact on Adventist HealthCare and the communities and patients we serve.”

Dr. White will serve a three-year term on Adventist HealthCare’s Board of Trustees.

Washington Adventist Hospital is a 281-bed acute-care facility located in Takoma Park, Maryland. Washington Adventist Hospital is Montgomery County’s first cardiac center, performing hundreds of openheart surgeries and thousands of heart catheterizations each year. The Hospital is the first accredited Cycle III Chest Pain Center in the DC Metro Area. Washington Adventist Hospital is part of Adventist HealthCare, an integrated health-care delivery system based in Rockville, Maryland, that is one of the largest employers in the state of Maryland.
