Dr. James Rost Named to Adventist HealthCare’s Board of Trustees

Gaithersburg, MD Adventist HealthCare has named Dr. James Rost, board-certified neonatologist and pediatrician at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, to its Board of Trustees for a three-year term. Dr. Rost is currently the Medical Director of Patient Safety as well as the Medical Director of the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Shady Grove Adventist.

“Dr. Rost is known throughout Maryland and the region for his commitment to patient safety and quality care,” said William G. “Bill” Robertson, president and CEO of Adventist HealthCare. “As a long-standing and highly regarded physician at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, I am confident that he will help us continue our mission of improving the health of people and communities.”

Dr. Rost has served as Medical Director of the NICU since 2010. Shady Grove Adventist Hospital’s NICU is designated Level IIIB, one of the highest possible ratings attainable. The designation reflects the hospital’s high-level of care for newborns with severe or complex health issues including extreme prematurity.

“It is an honor to support Adventist HealthCare and its entities by serving on the Board of Trustees,” says Dr. Rost. “I look forward to helping the organization as we continue to provide vital services to our growing community.”

During his more than 15 years at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, Dr. Rost has held positions on the Labor and Delivery Committee, the Process Improvement Council, the hospital’s Board of Governors and as the Director of the NICU transport team.

Dr. Rost holds a medical degree from Brown University Medical School. He completed his pediatric residency and neonatology fellowship at Duke University Medical Center.
