Shady Grove Adventist and Washington Adventist Rank Among Top Area Hospitals by U.S. News & World Report

Rankings Include Recognition as High-Performing in 10 Specialty Areas

Gaithersburg, MDShady Grove Adventist Hospital and Washington Adventist Hospital – both part of Adventist HealthCare – have been recognized as top hospitals in the region by U.S. News & World Report. Of the 59 hospitals in the Washington, D.C. area listed, Washington Adventist ranked 7th and Shady Grove Adventist ranked 11th.

The U.S. News rankings, released today, were based on a number of adult specialties. Washington Adventist Hospital was recognized as high-performing in six areas: Cardiology & Heart Surgery, Diabetes & Endocrinology, Neurology & Neurosurgery, Gastroenterology & Gastrointestinal Surgery, Geriatrics and Nephrology. Shady Grove Adventist Hospital ranked as high-performing in: Neurology & Neurosurgery, Gastroenterology & Gastrointestinal Surgery, Geriatrics and Nephrology.

Both hospitals have been continually recognized for the quality care provided to patients with many serious health conditions. Recent recognition includes:

  • Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Awards from the American Heart Association for both hospitals.
  • Joint Replacement Program Gold Seal of Approval by the Joint Commission for Shady Grove Adventist.
  • Cycle IV Chest Pain Center with PCI Accreditation for Washington Adventist.

Shady Grove Adventist Hospital a not-for-profit, 331-bed acute care facility in Rockville, Md., is part of Adventist HealthCare’s system of complete health-care services. Shady Grove is nationally recognized in cancer care, cardiac and vascular services, orthopedics and joint replacement, and maternity and pediatric care.

Washington Adventist Hospital, a not-for-profit, 252-bed acute-care facility located in Takoma Park, Maryland, is part of Adventist HealthCare’s system of complete health-care services. Washington Adventist Hospital, Montgomery County’s first cardiac center, is a Cycle IV Chest Pain Center and Designated Stroke Center.
