Center for Advanced Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine at Washington Adventist Hospital Recognized with National Award

Only Wound Care Center in the Area Awarded 2012 Center of Distinction Award

Takoma Park, MDThe Center for Advanced Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine at Washington Adventist Hospital has been recognized as a Center of Distinction by Healogics, Inc., the world’s leading wound care management company, making it the only wound care center in the D.C. metropolitan region within the Healogics network to be recognized with this national award.

The award distinguishes The Center for Advanced Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine at Washington Adventist Hospital as one of the top wound care centers in the country and is given to facilities that have outstanding patient outcomes for twelve months or more. High standards must be met in all of the following categories to become a Center of Distinction: patient satisfaction, healing rate, outlier rate and median days to heal.

"This award reflects the dedication of our entire wound care team made up of doctors, nurses, technicians and administrators,” said Dr. Paul T. Wielebinski, M.D., Medical Director of the Center for Advanced Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine at Washington Adventist Hospital. “Our focus is always on the health of our patients. There is no greater reward for our team than to heal a wound and restore normalcy to our patients’ lives."

“We strive for the best outcomes for our patients, and to provide our community with the highest-quality care possible,” said Joyce Newmyer, President of Washington Adventist Hospital. “Receiving this award for distinction, and being the only wound care center in the area to do so, is a testament to the hard work and compassionate care our team consistently provides to the patients we serve.”

Opened in 2011, The Center for Advanced Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine at Washington Adventist Hospital provides specialized treatment for chronic or non-healing wounds, which are defined as sores or wounds that have not significantly improved from conventional treatments. Often associated with inadequate circulation, diabetes, immobility, and other conditions, non-healing wounds lead to lower quality of life and may lead to amputations. When wounds persist, a specialized approach is required for healing.

Washington Adventist Hospital, a not-for-profit, 252-bed acute-care facility located in Takoma Park, Maryland, is part of Adventist HealthCare’s system of complete health-care services. Washington Adventist Hospital, Montgomery County’s first cardiac center, is a Cycle III Chest Pain Center and Designated Stroke Center.
