New Members Appointed to Adventist HealthCare Hospital Boards

Rockville, MD – Adventist HealthCare is pleased to announce the appointment of two physicians to two of its hospital governing boards. Joseph Haggerty, M.D., has been appointed to a three-year term on the Shady Grove Adventist Hospital board and Vinu Ganti, M.D., has been named to a two-year term on the Adventist Rehabilitation Hospital of Maryland board.

“I am pleased to welcome these physicians to our boards,” says William G. “Bill” Robertson, CEO and president of Adventist HealthCare, based in Gaithersburg. “Both bring substantial experience with our hospitals to the board and I am confident they will help us continue to provide high-quality care to the communities we serve.”

Dr. Haggerty, a medical oncologist and medical director of Cancer Services for Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville, comes to the board with more than 20 years of experience. His practice is also part of the new Shady Grove Adventist Aquilino Cancer Center, which opened on the hospital campus in September 2013.

“I am honored to be a part of the hospital governing board, especially during such an exciting time in cancer care,” says Dr. Haggerty. “I look forward to working with the other board members as we expand high-quality cancer care and other expert health services to Montgomery County.”

Dr. Haggerty’s previous positions with Shady Grove Adventist include cancer liaison physician and medical staff executive committee member.

Dr. Ganti brings nearly 20 years of experience in internal medicine to the board of Adventist Rehabilitation Hospital, which is also located in Rockville. He has served on Adventist Rehabilitation Hospital’s pharmacy and therapeutics committee, as well as on the executive committee at Shady Grove Adventist. Dr. Ganti also previously held a position as a Chairman of the Department of Medicine at Shady Grove Adventist.

“As the only acute rehabilitation hospital in Montgomery County, Adventist Rehabilitation Hospital provides vital services to those who need rehabilitative care in our community,” says Dr. Ganti. “I look forward to working with the board on how we can continue to best serve our area.”

Dr. Ganti has also worked at Washington Adventist Hospital, also part of the Adventist HealthCare system.

Shady Grove Adventist Hospital a not-for-profit, 313-bed acute care facility in Rockville, Md., is nationally recognized in cancer care, cardiac and vascular services, orthopedics and joint replacement, and maternity and pediatric care.
