Gaithersburg, Md.Adventist HealthCare, the largest provider of healthcare services in Montgomery County, Md., has named Rosemarie Melendez, a nursing leader with the organization, to its Board of Trustees for a three-year term ending in October 2017.

Melendez currently serves as the director of the Emergency Department and Nursing Administration for Adventist HealthCare Washington Adventist Hospital in Takoma Park, where she has worked for 24 years. She is a member of the Spencerville Adventist Church.

“Nurses are the backbone of healthcare delivery system and Rose will bring an important front-line perspective to the board’s deliberations,” said Terry Forde, president and CEO of Adventist HealthCare. “I have had the pleasure of seeing the compassion and expertise Rose brings to her role at the hospital. I look forward to Rose helping give board members a greater understanding of patient care and nurse training.”

In her Nursing Administration role, Melendez has worked extensively on patient flow and length of stay in the hospital.
