Patient & Visitor Parking Information
Patients and visitors to Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center are welcome to park in the surface lot in front of the Main Entrance and in the parking garage. Parking fees are in effect.
Emergency Department visitors and patients may park in the Emergency Department lot. Please bring your parking ticket with you. You will need your pulled ticket at the Pay on Foot station located in the vestibules at each lobby.
Late night and overnight, between 10 p.m. – 5 a.m., the Main Entrance to the hospital closes for security purposes. All patients and visitors must enter and exit through the Emergency Department lobby. Please park in the Emergency Department lot between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. This includes visitors who expect to stay later than 10 p.m.
If hospital parking is full, overflow parking is available in the neighboring Adventist HealthCare Behavioral Health & Wellness Services lot. From the main entrance, go right on Medical Center Way, then right on Broschart Road. The parking lot is on the right.
What are the parking fees?
The parking fee is $1.50 per hour with a maximum of $5 per lot per visit. If a patient or visitor exits the parking area and returns later in the same day, the clock re-starts and they will have to pull another ticket upon re-entry and pay for the second entrance. There is a 20-minute grace period to allow for patient drop-off and pick up.
Parking gates are in operation 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Are discount parking tickets available?
Discount tickets (40% off) are available in packets of 5 for $15 in the hospital Gift Shop. Tickets are not sold individually.
Each ticket has a $5 value and allows one in/out in a 24-hour period.
These tickets are ideal for patients or families who frequent the hospital or for several family members who may be visiting at one time period.
How do I use a discount ticket?
- Park your car in the parking lot or garage and keep the pulled ticket with you.
- When your visit to the hospital has ended, you will need your pulled ticket and one of the discounted tickets from the Gift Shop.
- At the exit gate, insert the ticket that you pulled that day into the slot.
- Insert the blue discounted ticket second. Keep the magnetic strip up and to the right.
- The discounted ticket will pay the fee and lift the gate.
- If you have problems, please push the silver intercom button to the left of the ticket inserter.
- Each discount ticket is for good for one in/out. For return visits to the hospital on the same day, another ticket will be pulled at entry and you will need to pay for that second entrance into the lot.
In general, all visitors and patients pay for parking. This approach was chosen in order to keep a low hourly rate.
How do I pay?
Pay on Foot machines are located in the main lobby and in the Emergency Department lobby. These machines accept CASH and major CREDIT CARDS. You may also pay at the exit gates. The exit gate will accept credit card payment only.
Why do we pay for parking?
Like other hospitals in the region, we have to find ways to offset the cost of providing parking spaces for all who visit our campus. Charging a reasonable fee covers the cost of our current and future parking needs as well as the maintenance of our grounds/lots (snow and trash removal, repairs, security cameras, etc.)
How do I report a problem?
To reach a parking attendant, please contact Security at 240-826-6671. If you would like to share a concern or problem related to parking, please call Metropolitan HealthCare Services at 202-327-4084 (M-F, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.). Urgent problems should be directed to Security at 240-826-6671.
How are lost or damaged tickets handled?
A patient or visitor who has lost or damaged their ticket will need to contact the on-duty parking attendant by using the intercom system at the gates or pay stations, or by calling Security at 240-826-6671. The cashier in the Emergency Department can also handle lost/damaged tickets. Lost tickets are $5.
