Cancer surgery is used to diagnose, treat and possibly even prevent cancer by removing pre-cancerous growths. At Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center, expert surgeons can perform robotic, laparoscopic and traditional open procedures, depending on the patient’s need and type of cancer.

Surgical Services Department

The Surgical Services Department at Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center has 16 state-of-the-art operating rooms in a 100,000-square foot space that opened in 2008. The department includes Pre-Surgical Testing (PST), which offers one convenient, coordinated location for History and Physicals, radiology and laboratory work for patients facing either complex or same-day surgeries.

    Our Breastfeeding Class is a 2-1/2 hour prenatal class designed to help expectant parents get off to the right start with breastfeeding after the birth of their baby.

    For aspiring mother’s helpers and babysitters (boys and girls 11 to 15), this class covers accident prevention and basic care of infants and children.

    10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
    Our Infant CPR for Parents class teaches parents CPR skills, safety, and management of choking for newborns through age one. Please note this class is for adults only. NO BABIES PLEASE.
