Heart Health Resources & Support

Making changes to your lifestyle is a proven way to reduce your risk of heart disease. The majority of heart disease is caused by risk factors that can be controlled, modified or treated including diet, physical activity, blood pressure, tobacco use, diabetes and obesity.

Take your health to heart by participating in our ongoing community health programs and connecting with health experts that can provide you and your family with the support you need.

Community Heart Health Programs

These programs are available to help you better manage your heart health:

Tobacco Cessation Support

Smoking is the most preventable cause of heart disease. In fact, smokers are nearly twice as likely to have a heart attack as someone who has never smoked. Make the important decision to quit and receive FREE support through Adventist HealthCare’s Tobacco Cessation Program.

Nutrition Counseling

Adopting a nutritious diet helps to control your weight, cholesterol and blood pressure, making it the best defense against heart disease. Learn how to make the right diet choices to best support your health through personalized consultations with a registered dietitian in Gaithersburg or Takoma Park.

Diabetes & Prediabetes Programs

Having diabetes or prediabetes puts you at an increased risk for heart disease. You can lower your risk by learning how to properly manage your blood glucose (blood sugar), blood pressure and blood cholesterol levels with expert guidance from our certified diabetes educators.

Fitness & Weight Management

Being overweight can do serious damage to your heart by increasing your risk for high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes. Get in control of your weight by stepping up your exercise routine and joining one of our fitness programs. You can also find out if weight loss surgery is right for you by attending a FREE online webinar.
