Reduce Your Risk of Limb Loss

Most amputations are preventable. You can lower the likelihood of an amputation by:

  • Staying physically active and maintaining a healthy weight
  • Asking LPAC or a healthcare professional for advice on shoes that can prevent foot sores, especially if you have diabetes
  • Immediately caring for any cuts or scratches on your feet or legs
  • Taking steps to prevent or reverse peripheral arterial disease (decreased blood flow to the limbs), including eating a healthy diet and quitting smoking

Amputee Rehabilitation

If you’ve lost a limb, amputee rehabilitation at Adventist HealthCare can help you adjust physically and psychologically.
