The Adventist Behavioral Health Cottage at North Potomac

The Adventist Behavioral Health Cottage at North Potomac offers therapeutic group home services for adolescent females in North Potomac, MD.

The group home services offer troubled adolescents a caring, supportive living environment in which they can address their psychological treatment issues while becoming reintegrated into the community. The program offers a behavioral level system in which the residents are able to earn their privileges and assume higher levels of responsibility commensurate with their developmental progress. The completion of weekly goals is another component of the program that leads to discharge to a less intensive level of care. Each resident is assigned a primary counselor who advocates for the adolescent and informs other members of the treatment team of important information regarding the individual progress being made. Adolescents in the therapeutic group home setting attend local community schools, when appropriate, they are also encouraged to apply for and hold after school jobs in the community.

Discharge planning begins at admission with particular attention paid to the individual's current and projected levels of functioning, his/her support system and his/her concerns.
