Adult Partial Hospitalization Program

Adventist Behavioral Health’s Adult Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) bridges the gap between acute inpatient and outpatient services; serving as both an alternative to hospitalization and as a transition from inpatient care. The program provides a structured, therapeutically intensive setting for individuals who do not require 24-hour supervision but still need a high degree of therapeutic support.
Program Tracks
The Adult PHP is comprised of two program tracks; the Mood Disorders track and the Transitional Youth track.
The Mood Disorders track is designed to evaluate and treat primary mood disorders such as major depression and bipolar disorder in individuals 18 years and older.
The Transitional Youth track is designed for young adults with mental illnesses transitioning into adulthood, ages 18 to 25 years. Many young adults grow out of children’s services without any transitional planning, lacking the skills necessary to manage their illnesses, live independently and accomplish their goals. The Transitional Youth PHP serves to meet the needs of these transitional youth by providing therapy and the life skills necessary to help them be successful.
Treatment & Services
The Adult PHP’s interdisciplinary staff of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, expressive therapists and nurses provides a variety of group-based treatment approaches; including psychoeducational, psychodynamic and activity group therapy. Both programs offer group therapy to promote and facilitate the patients’ active engagement in learning about their disorders, developing effective coping and interpersonal skills, and reintegrating themselves back into the community. Groups have a maximum of 12 patients each and are available for individuals in Montgomery County and surrounding jurisdictions. Transportation is available for some patients depending on their location.
