President, Shady Grove Medical Center

Dan Cochran serves as President at Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center in Rockville, Maryland, and brings more than 40 years of experience in healthcare.

Dan joined the Shady Grove Medical Center’s executive team in April 2011 as Chief Financial Officer. In 2017, he took on the role of Chief Operating Officer, helping to successfully integrate Adventist HealthCare’s behavioral health services into Shady Grove’s operations, prior to becoming President in 2019.

As President, Dan has guided Shady Grove to meet the challenges of the COVID-19 public health crisis and through development of a major campus expansion project. He remains active in his community serving on the advisory board of The Universities at Shady Grove and on the board of The Healthcare Council. Dan previously served as chairman of The Mercy Health Clinic board.

Prior to joining Adventist HealthCare, Dan served as Vice President of Finance at Reading Hospital and Medical Center in Reading, Pennsylvania, developing new business lines and improving operational and financial results.

Dan earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Professional Accountancy from The Pennsylvania State University and Master of Business Administration degree from Troy State University.

Additionally, he has received the distinction as a Fellow in the Healthcare Financial Management Association and as a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
