Associate Vice President, Government Relations

Karmen Walker Brown serves as the Associate Vice President of Government Relations for Adventist HealthCare. Karmen joined Adventist HealthCare in 2020 as the Director of Philanthropy & Donor Relations for Adventist HealthCare Fort Washington Medical Center. In that role, Karmen developed new approaches and programs to build support for a new hospital facility and facilitate the expansion of healthcare services to address the critical needs of the community. In particular, Karmen helped the FWMC Board of Directors, leaders, physicians, providers and other representatives connect with key elected officials and stakeholders.

Prior to coming to AHC, Karmen provided strategic advice and assisted in the development of public policy communications through direct advocacy, coalition building, media relations and community outreach as a consultant for four years. She also worked for Comcast, including as the Director of Government & Public Affairs for over 10 years as the Director of Government & Community Affairs for over six years.

Karmen serves as a member of the Prince George’s County Chamber of Commerce. She previously served as the Chair of the Patient Quality & Safety Committee on the Board of Directors of Prince George’s Hospital, part of University of Maryland Capital Region Health, and as a founding member of the Board of Directors for the Bowie Health Center Foundation for 20 years.
