Washington Adventist Hospital to Hold Open House On Campus Enhancement Plans

Open House Scheduled for 1-3 p.m. on November 17

Takoma Park, MD - Washington Adventist Hospital will hold an open house for the community on Sunday, November 17 from 1-3 p.m. to show the illustrative site plan for the hospital's Campus Enhancement Project.

The hospital plans to file a formal application the week of November 18 to receive approval for the project from the Montgomery County Board of Appeals. The project includes additional parking space on campus, a physician office building/outpatient medical center, expansion of the hospital's emergency department and private rooms for hospital patients.

The entire project, which also includes an improved storm water management system, will be developed on the current hospital campus.

"As a non-profit hospital, we have a fiduciary responsibility to meet the health care needs of our community, and this project is important to ensuring we have the services and facilities patients need," said Ken Bauer, President of Washington Adventist Hospital. "Our current parking space is severely inadequate, there is increasing demand for outpatient services and our emergency department, which treats more patients each year, is overcrowded."

"We have received input from, and engaged in a dialogue with, our community for nearly 12 months, and we wanted to provide the community an opportunity to see the site plans before they are filed," said Bauer, explaining the purpose of the open house. "We value our relationship with our neighbors and look forward to continuing an open dialogue about this project."

Washington Adventist Hospital provides an array of health care services for the community including emergency medical care, radiation oncology, cardiology and cardiac surgery, behavioral health services, maternity care and inpatient and outpatient surgery, among others.
