Shady Grove Honored For Its Workplace Environment

Rockville, MD - Shady Grove Adventist Hospital has received the 2002 Maryland "Workplace Excellence" Award Seal of Approval.

The award is sponsored by the National Work-Life Alliance, a nonprofit organization founded and headquartered in Montgomery County. The Alliance is a private/public coalition committed to empowering employers nationwide to create excellent places to work and to become recognized for doing so.

The "Workplace Excellence" Award Seal of Approval recognizes organizations that provide a healthy work environment and are sensitive to the personal and professional needs of their employees. Some of the issues addressed in the review of an employer include pay practices and compensation philosophy, paid time-off benefits, policies on protecting the rights of employees, continuing education, workplace safety and many other issues.

"This is a high honor and I'd like to thank all of our employees, physicians, volunteers and others who work hand-in-hand to make Shady Grove Adventist Hospital a great place to work," said Deborah A. Yancer, President of Shady Grove Adventist Hospital.

"Consistent with our mission, it is important for us to remain diligent in creating and maintaining an environment where individuals are able to succeed professionally and maintain a healthy balance between their work and their personal life," Yancer added. "I welcome and encourage continued feedback about ways Shady Grove Adventist Hospital can meet the needs of all who work with the hospital."

Shady Grove Adventist Hospital is a 263-bed facility that offers an array of health care services including cardiology, oncology, high-risk maternity services, pediatrics, pediatric intensive care, neonatal intensive care and emergency medicine, among other services. The hospital employs some 1,800 people and is part of the Adventist HealthCare network of services.
