Adventist HealthCare President Named to List of Influential Marylanders by The Daily Record

Baltimore, MD — The Daily Record has named William G. “Bill” Robertson, president and CEO of Adventist HealthCare in Gaithersburg, to its 2014 list of “Influential Marylanders.”

Robertson is one of 53 honorees selected by the editors of The Daily Record for their significant contributions to their respective fields and for their leadership in Maryland in the following areas: civic leadership, communications, education, finance, health care, law, philanthropy, real estate and technology.

“While it is an honor to be recognized, this award is really a credit to the team of executives, physicians, nurses and employees across Adventist HealthCare who each day helps fulfill our organization’s mission. Their unflagging efforts to provide world-class care reflect our commitment to demonstrate God’s care by improving the health of people and communities through a ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing,” Robertson said. “I am also blessed to be able to partner with many business, civic and political leaders across Maryland who strive to make this state a great place to live and do business.”

Besides being the head of Montgomery County’s first and largest health-care provider, Robertson has been involved with a wide range of community organizations, including the Governor's Workforce Investment Board, the Governor's P-20 Leadership Council of Maryland, the Maryland Workforce Corporation Board; the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce Board and the Strathmore Hall Foundation Board.

The Daily Record launched Influential Marylanders in 2006. Elected officials are not eligible because they are, by nature, influential.

Two of the honorees, Chet Burrell, president & CEO of CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, and Dr. Freeman Hrabowski, president of University of Maryland Baltimore County, were named to the Circle of Influence. Honorees who have been selected for the third and final time join the Circle of Influence.

“The Daily Record’s 2014 Influential Marylanders focus their attention on what really matters. What they say and what they do make a difference for many of us in Maryland and often beyond our state’s borders,” said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, publisher of The Daily Record. “They are leaders in their respective fields. They challenge us to realize our hopes and dreams and to meet our own goals. We at The Daily Record are proud to recognize their achievements.”

The winners will be honored on Thursday, March 27, at a reception at The Grand Lodge, 304 International Circle in Cockeysville. Winners will be profiled in a special magazine that will be inserted into the March 28, issue of The Daily Record and available at

The title sponsor of The Daily Record’s 2014 Influential Marylanders is Stevenson University.
