Running Beyond Cancer (RBC) is a training program exclusively for cancer patients and survivors is back for the spring! The program is hosted by the Shady Grove Adventist Aquilino Cancer Center, in partnership with the Montgomery County Road Runners Club.
Experienced coaches Don Shulman and Andy Steinfeld, both of whom have personal ties to runners with cancer, will lead the twice-weekly sessions. The goal is for survivors to form social connections while building stamina and strength at an appropriate and comfortable pace for each participate.
Open to Runners of All Levels
Both new and experienced runners, or walkers who want to build to running, are welcome. Doctor's clearance required.
Race Prep (Optional)
Should you desire to participate in them with us, our spring RBC program will help participants prepare for the following races:
NOTE: Participation in these race events is optional. Race registration and membership fees in MCRRC are not included.
Fall 2017 Training Schedule
Kickoff meeting Tuesday, Oct. 3 at the Aquilino Cancer Center. Participants and their support persons are invited to a meet-and-greet with the coaches.
Runs take place Tuesday evenings, Oct. 10 through Dec. 19, and Saturday mornings Oct. 14 to Dec. 23. On Tuesdays, participants will complete a loop around the Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove campus. On Saturdays, participants will meet at scenic trails around Montgomery County.
Coaches will provide more details about specific locations at the Oct. 3 session.
