Campus Update

Thank you for your interest in the planned transition of the former campus of Washington Adventist Hospital which served as a place of hope and healing for so many in our community.

We have been honored to serve patients, families, visitors and loved ones for over 100 years and look forward to the campus’ next chapter as we prepare the site to support new growth opportunities for Takoma Park.

 

Announcements

  • Hazardous materials abatement has been completed in the main hospital building. Interior removal of recyclable materials is now in progress.
  • ROAD CLOSURE - The private cut-thru road that connects the Carroll Avenue campus entrance/exit to the Maple Avenue entrance/exit remains permanently closed. All public roads and the pedestrian/bike path along the Sligo Creek remain open.

Interior Abatement Closeout Interior abatement is completed. Industrial hygienists are currently testing and inspecting the site.
Permits Open Exterior/razing demolition permits and associated timelines for mobilizing exterior focused demolition crews remains OPEN.

Anticipated issuance of permits – early October.
Utilities - Washinton Gas, Pepco, WSSC, Phones/Internet Complete All required termination of services letters received.
Exterior / Structure Demo Not Started Pending permits.
