Get hands-on experience and build confidence in your skills during a student nurse externship at Adventist HealthCare.
About the Externship
If you’re working towards a bachelor’s degree in nursing, put your classroom studies to use during during the Student Nurse Externship. The externship is a paid, full-time job shadowing and training program that takes place over eight weeks during the summer between your junior and senior year.
You’ll learn from a supportive preceptor and other experienced nursing educators. Expect to work a varied schedule and rotate shifts.
Benefits of the Externship
If you’re selected as one of our 12 to 18 externs, feel confident you’re a competitive candidate because about 250 students apply each year for the externship. You’ll enhance your curriculum vitae (CV) and increase your chances of earning a graduate nurse residency when you finish your bachelor’s degree.
You must maintain full-time status for the entire externship. This means you should be available for work from June to July. Leaving the program early may affect your future employment opportunities at Adventist HealthCare.
Student Nursing Uniform
Unless your nursing unit provides a uniform, you’ll need to buy and care for white scrub tops and khaki scrub pants.
