Pharmacy Residency Programs

Advance your career through our Postgraduate Year One (PGY1) Pharmacy Residency Programs offered at Shady Grove Medical Center in Rockville, MD, or White Oak Medical Center in Silver Spring, MD.

Your PGY1 Pharmacy Residency

Our ASHP-accredited (Shady Grove) and ASHP pre-candidate (White Oak) PGY1 Pharmacy Residency programs are designed to build on Doctor of Pharmacy education and training. Both programs produce competent and compassionate pharmacists who deliver medication-related care across a wide range of conditions and patient populations. Graduates are prepared to pursue board certification, Postgraduate Year Two (PGY2) training, or direct entry into advanced pharmacy practice roles.

While both programs share Adventist HealthCare’s mission and commitment to wholistic, high-quality care, each site offers unique clinical experiences and focus areas.

During your residency year, you will:

  • Provide care across diverse settings and populations
  • Be an integral member of the multi-disciplinary health care team, responsible for medication therapy outcomes
  • Practice with a high level of maturity and leadership
  • Complete and present practice-related research
  • Teach patients and other professionals about medications
  • Provide education to pharmacy team members and pharmacy students
  • Develop a personal plan for professional development
