About Alan Schulsinger

Alan Schulsinger, MD is a board-certified radiation oncologist with Adventist Medical Group. He graduated from the Brooklyn College/SUNY-Downstate BA/MD program. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and a second residency in radiation oncology at Health Science Center at Brooklyn where he also served as chief resident.

Upon completion of his residency in radiation oncology, Dr. Schulsinger accepted a position at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital where he specialized in pelvic malignancies, lymphoma, head and neck cancer, brachytherapy, and intra-operative Radiation Therapy. He also served as the residency training program director. Following Thomas Jefferson University, he took a position at SUNY-Downstate where he was the clinical associate professor.

Dr. Schulsinger spent the last eight years as the Director of Radiation Oncology at their Long Island College Hospital campus where he successfully developed their Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy, Brachytherapy, Genitourinary, Gynecology, and Neurosurgery programs.

While working at SUNY-Downstate, Dr. Schulsinger was the first physician in the State of New York to successfully treat a patient with Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy using the Nomos Peacock System. He has been a guest lecturer at the Osler Institute, from which he won the teaching awards three years in a row.

Dr. Schulsinger has written and co-authored over twenty peer-reviewed journal articles, abstracts, and book chapters. He has also participated as an investigator in numerous national cancer research projects.

He and his wife, Yvonne, are kept busy raising their five children.
