About Mark Johnson
Mark Johnson, MD, FACS, is a general surgeon with Adventist Medical Group. He received his undergraduate degree from The University of Florida, and his medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine, graduating with honors in 1993. Dr. Johnson completed his residency in general surgery at Howard University Hospital, finishing at the top of his class.
Before joining Adventist Medical Group, Dr. Johnson practiced as a breast and general surgeon at multiple health systems throughout the Washington, D.C. area. In recent years, he has also served as a preceptor of general surgery at the Wright Center Family Medicine Program. He has received multiple teaching honors and remains dedicated to the development of current and future physicians.
He is well-versed in the management of breast cancer and other breast diseases. He is also proficient in minimally invasive surgery and readily incorporates this technology into the care of his patients. He is a firm believer in the comprehensive care of his patients and works closely with other members of the team to ensure the best outcomes.
Dr. Johnson is a fellow of the American College of Surgery and a diplomat of the American Board of Surgery. He is also a member of the American Hernia Society and a lifetime member of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
As a father of three and amateur poet, Dr. Johnson brings a passion for optimism as he engages each patient, reminding them to “stay in the present” and leave the rest to God.
