About Niv Ad
Niv Ad, MD, is a cardiac surgeon with Adventist HealthCare Adventist Medical Group. Dr. Ad is also an Adjunct professor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and division of Cardiac surgery. He attended medical school at the Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University and completed his fellowship in Thoracic/Cardiovascular Surgery at Georgetown Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Ad is a leading authority on minimally invasive heart surgery and other advanced heart surgery techniques. He is the immediate past president of The International Society of Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery (ISMICS) and the Editor in Chief Innovation: Technology and Techniques is Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery. Dr. Ad is an international leader in surgical ablation for atrial fibrillation and the Cox Maze procedure using the most advanced minimally invasive approaches. He has led the development of national clinical practice guidelines for the different cardiac surgery societies and has been a longstanding contributor of innovations in the field.
Dr. Ad has published more than 175 research articles in peer-reviewed publications and serves on multiple leadership positions and committees related to cardiothoracic surgery. He is a regular speaker at the most prestigious scientific meetings here and worldwide. Other than surgical ablation, Dr. Ad has an extensive experience in mitral valve repair (minimally invasive), Aortic valve surgery and coronary bypass surgery.
Dr. Ad sees patients at the Takoma Park office and performs surgery at Adventist HealthCare White Oak Medical Center, a leader in minimally invasive surgical approaches, including heart valve surgery.
