About Niv Ad
Niv Ad, MD is a cardiac surgeon with Adventist HealthCare Adventist Medical Group. Dr. Ad is also the Director of Clinical Research and a professor of surgery at the West Virginia University Medical Center Heart and Vascular Institute. He attended medical school at the Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University and completed his fellowship in Thoracic/Cardiovascular Surgery at Georgetown Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Ad is a leading authority on minimally invasive heart surgery and other advanced heart surgery techniques, including the Maze procedure to treat atrial fibrillation. He has led the development of national clinical practice guidelines and has been a longstanding contributor of innovations in the field. Dr. Ad has published more than 150 research articles in peer-reviewed publications and serves on multiple leadership positions and committees related to cardiothoracic surgery. Dr. Ad sees patients at the Takoma Park office and preforms surgery at Washington Adventist Hospital, a leader in minimally invasive surgical approaches, including heart valve surgery.
