Alright. It's summertime. It's hot, and we are outside. WGTS ninety one point nine. I'm Claude.

He's Brennan. Jerry is out. And that has its own challenges, you know, whether it's like sunscreen and things like that, but hydration is very important. Coming into work this morning, Adrian, who interns with us, she was struggling because she had two bottles of like like, I had a Stanley cup and then another coffee iced coffee thing and then another thing in a bag.

But she wants to make sure she's hydrated, but I wonder how much hydration is enough, especially when the kiddos are out there playing sports or we've been outside all day for cookouts.

Yeah.

That's why we got really smart friends joining us, Patricia Hertz and Jason Herron, experts with Adventist HealthCare, to help us out with that.

I said, Patricia, do we need to be like Adrian, king around two Stanley cups, or is one enough? Essentially, how much water do we really need in a typical day?

So normally, we want to take in about two and a half to three and a half liters. I would say very dependent on the person, their health, how active they are, their age, what they might be going through, if they're living in a cold or warm climate. Just really important to hydrate for the body, the mind. It could cause a lot of fatigue and other issues we don't want to have throughout the day. So hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.

So, Jason, when we're outside and we are, you know, having a cookout or we're, involved in physical activities or our kids are in some some sort of camp, how do we know if we're drinking enough water? Because a lot of times that heat exhaustion and stuff, it just pops up on you. You don't even know you're dealing with it until you're in the middle of it. How do we know that we're good?

Yeah. It's important that you don't feel thirsty or lightheaded or have any headaches. Your energy should stay steady and doesn't drop off super quickly. You'll see that you're sweating regularly and not feeling super dried out, and you're recovering well from your activity without feeling wiped out or cramped.

Thanks so much to Jason and Patricia, experts with Adventist HealthCare. If you wanna find out more about the health minutes or hear any of the previous ones, just check it out at WGTS919.com on the morning show page. And a big thanks to Adventist HealthCare for its support.
