    Employee Q&A with Bella

Bella is passionate about creating a seamless onboarding experience for new team members, driven by her commitment to diversity, inclusion, and meaningful connections at Adventist HealthCare.

Which department do you work for and what are your day-to-day responsibility in your role at Adventist HealthCare?

Hi, I'm Bella Toscano, and I am a recruitment coordinator here at Adventist HealthCare Human Resources, and I work in recruiting and onboarding. So my day to day tasks look like getting new hires ready by helping them from the time they sign their offer letter to the first day of orientation. So this includes scheduling occupational health appointments, collecting certifications and licensure, assisting with questions regarding workday tasks, and prepping and running general orientation.

What do you love the most about working for Adventist HealthCare?

What I love most about working at Adventist HealthCare is the diverse work environment. Working with people from all walks of life, I believe, provides different perspectives that promote better decision making, conflict resolution, and increases creativity and motivation. I also believe that it helps foster a warm and welcoming work environment for people who come and work at Adventist.

What do you think helped you the most during your transition from intern to employee?

What helped me most during my transition was my. The department that I worked in, and how they treated me as a full-time hire while I was in my internship. They gave me many substantial projects and also other hands-on experience that exposed me to the various facets of business in the workplace. Um, I also wasn't doing the stereotypical intern work, like going and grabbing a coffee. I was rather learning these greatly beneficial skills, which I now use in the workplace and helped me transition very smoothly.

What is one key piece of advice you would give to interns who are aiming to transition into a full-time employee role?

If I could give interns who are making that transition to a full-time role, one piece of advice, it would definitely be to take initiative and demonstrate value beyond your assigned task. I believe that it's important to obviously get all your work done, but once you take that initiative, it one, it helps your team. Further towards their objective, but it also shows that you have the capability to take on more tasks in the future.

How does Adventist HealthCare support interns in making the transition to full-time employment?

The biggest support that I got when making the transition from Adventist was the team that I was given, with my internship team and the team that I'm on now were so willing to answer all the questions that I had, and they demonstrate great patience with me, while also pushing me to perform to the best of my ability through the extensive training I was provided with.
