Meet Pinky
Pinky, RN, BSN, CRRN, has dedicated over 17 years to Adventist HealthCare, currently serving as an admission nurse. With a background in skilled nursing, long-term care, and oncology, she was drawn to Adventist HealthCare for its convenient location but stayed for its supportive, team-oriented culture. Pinky values Adventist HealthCare’s diversity, collaboration, and commitment to patient safety. She takes pride in her role, from bedside care to welcoming new patients, and has been recognized with multiple awards, including the Compassionate Care Award in 2022 and Nurse of the Year in 2015 and 2022.
Q&A with Pinky
We recently sat down with Pinky to learn more about her time at Adventist HealthCare.
What attracted you to Adventist HealthCare initially?
Initially, it was the location that attracted me to Adventist HealthCare because it's close to where I live. Being here now for over 17 years, I can say that I'm privileged to be working here alongside everyone who works hard every day to keep patients safe; co workers that I can call friends & treat like family. And I look forward to be working here for many years to come.
Did anything specific about the company’s culture or values stand out to you when you joined?
One thing that I noticed right away was the diversity of the staff and respect for each other's diverse backgrounds. Another thing is the teamwork and how every interdisciplinary team member collaborates and work hard together to help patients achieve their goals and get them home safely.
How has your career evolved since you joined Adventist HealthCare?
I started as a bedside nurse and was offered a charge nurse position but politely declined because bedside nursing is my happy place. I was then offered to be the admission nurse about over a year ago and now can say that I found my other happy place because I get to do a little bit of everything from taking care of patients to helping everybody.
What is your favorite part of your job?
As a bedside nurse, I truly enjoy taking care of patients, helping them regain independence and improve quality of life after experiencing a serious injury, illness or surgery. Another favorite of mine is being able to talk and connect with them; meeting patients with such an optimistic attitude despite going through some life-changing injuries or events in their life. As an admission nurse, I enjoy meeting patients on the first day and making them feel welcome, comfortable and safe.
What do you wish more people knew about working here?
I want them to know that they will have an opportunity to take care of patients with different life-changing injuries or illnesses. They will get to work with staff that is caring and passionate about what they do.
