Delmi's Becoming a CNA

Follow Delmi as she works her way through our 6-week program to become a certified nursing assistant (CNA).

Adventist HealthCare Macklin CNA Academt trainee Delmi

Meet Delmi

Macklin CNA trainee Delmi grew up in Gaithersburg and graduated from Quince Orchard High School. With hopes of becoming a registered nurse, Delmi began coursework at Montgomery College after high school but due to family obligations was unable to complete her degree at that time. Enrolling in the Macklin CNA Academy has allowed her to revive her pursuit of a career in healthcare.

Delmi currently resides in Hagerstown where she lives with her fiancé and dog Miles and enjoys spending her free time with the ones who mean the most to her, relaxing and catching up on her favorite Netflix shows.

Q&A with Delmi

We went in-depth with Delmi to learn more about her motivations for joining the Academy and here's what she told us.

What were you doing before you started the Academy?

I was working full time at an eye doctor as an optometric technician for five years. Because of this job, I was able to build relationships and gain basic knowledge in healthcare, eventually realizing that I wanted to continue my career in the medical field.

What motivated you to explore a career as a CNA?

I have always been drawn to the medical field. I love the idea of being able to help others and once I heard about the program I knew this would be a great opportunity to get me where I aspire to be.

What attracted you to Adventist HealthCare?

Adventist HealthCare has a reputation of exceeding the standards and when I saw the opportunity in regard to the CNA Academy, I took the initiative in joining to further my career.

What do you hope to learn through this program?

I aspire to learn as much as I can about patient care to be able to give the best care possible.

What is your vision for the future?

One day, I hope to use the knowledge and experiences I've gained at the CNA Academy and apply them toward becoming a registered nurse (RN), which is what I've always dreamed of.
