    Employee Q&A with Sarah

Sarah finds fulfillment in empowering patient-facing teams and creating meaningful impact behind the scenes, guided by her passion for service and commitment to Adventist HealthCare’s values.

Which department do you work for and what are your day-to-day responsibility in your role at Adventist HealthCare?

Hello, everyone. My name is Sarah. I am the Operational Excellence Advisor for the support center and I work for the Operational Excellence Department here at AHC. In my role, essentially the purpose of my role is to deploy a standard management approach that optimizes a AHC performance.

What do you love the most about working for Adventist HealthCare?

My passion in life has always been service. My favorite aspect about working at AHC is our commitment to our values and even though that my role isn't really patient facing, I can see how my work really impacts those who do face the patients. So anything that I can do to help my customers provides me with a sense of purpose that really aligns with my value of service.

What do you think helped you the most during your transition from intern to employee?

Well, firstly, I would like to say that the internship in general really did set me up for a lot of success when I started my first position here at AHC. I actually got to take lean six Signal white Belt training when I was an intern, which really really does align with the work that I currently do here at AHC. So I would just really recommend to take any trainings or educational opportunities that are available to you because that really will set you up for success in the future.

What is one key piece of advice you would give to interns who are aiming to transition into a full-time employee role?

I would really recommend to interact with as many different people or as many different departments as you can throughout your internship. Even if those really don't align with what your postgrad plan is looking like. I know for me, I actually am in a position now that I never really saw myself going into throughout my entire college experience. But due to experiences I had in my internship, I was able to find out about this position. So I'm really grateful for that.

How does Adventist HealthCare support interns in making the transition to full-time employment?

In my experience during my internship, the team that I worked with really was very intentional and making sure that I was able to sit in on as many different types of meetings as possible and interact with uh many different types of people. They were also really open about answering any questions I had no matter how simple they seemed to me, I was always very comfortable with my team, which really allowed me to be exposed to see all of what she had to offer me, especially when it was time for me to look for a full time employment opportunity here as well.
