Homemade Apple Pie Recipe

Homemade Apple Pie 

Serves: 8

Recipe Card

Ingredients

- 1 ⅓ cups of flour

- ¼ cup of sugar

- ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon and salt

- ¼ cup of oil or butter spread

- 2 tablespoons of water

Filling 

- 4 cups of peeled apples, sliced thin

- A pinch of stevia or 1 tablespoon of honey, maple syrup or agave

- Optional: ½ cup of walnuts or raisins

Crumble topping

- ½ of rolled oats 

- ½ of flour

- ½ cup of sugar

- ¼ cup of applesauce

- ⅛ teaspoon of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350˚F.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine all the dry crust ingredients, then stir in the oil and water to make a dough.

  3. Transfer to prepared pan, press down hard, and bake for 12 minutes on the center rack. 

  4. Toss the apple and sweetener in a medium bowl, then spread evenly over the baked crust.

  5. Combine all crumble ingredients in a third bowl.

  6. Sprinkle the crumble evenly over the apples.
  7. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until apples are soft and tender.
  8. Allow 20 minutes to cool.
